Privacy Policy for Job Applicants
With this Privacy Policy, we want to give you an overview over the processing of your personal data in relation with the application process at Threema GmbH.
Who is responsible for processing personal data?
Threema GmbH, Churerstrasse 82, 8808 Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland, is responsible for the processing of personal data. You can contact our Data Protection Officer at "privacy at threema dot ch".
What purposes does Threema process personal data for?
We process your personal data for the following purposes:
- Carrying out the application process (pre-contractual actions).
What personal data is processed?
During the application process, the following personal data is processed:
- Personal data in application documents;
- Personal data in the criminal record extract;
- Threema ID (application via the Threema app to "*JOBS3MA");
- Email address (application via email to "bewerbung at threema punkt ch";
- Device, technical and statistical information (in connection with the use of the recruitment tool Teamtailor from Teamtailor AB).
What personal data is stored and for how long?
The following personal data is stored by us (storage period in brackets):
- Personal data in application documents (for a maximum of 4 months after rejection);
- Personal data in the criminal record extract (for a maximum of 4 months after rejection);
- Threema ID for applications via the Threema app (for a maximum of 4 months after rejection);
- Email address for applications via email (for a maximum of 4 months after rejection);
- Device information (for a maximum of 4 months after rejection).
Further processing of your personal data if you are hired: If the application process ends with the conclusion of an employment agreement, the personal data in the application documents, in the criminal record extract, and the Threema ID and/or the email address are entered into the personnel file at Threema GmbH and will be further processed for the performance of the employment agreement.
Further processing of your personal data if you join our talent pool: Even if the application process ends with a rejection, you may voluntarily consent to join our talent pool. If you consent to join our talent pool, the following personal data is stored by us (storage period in brackets) so that Threema GmbH may contact you for future job opportunities:
- Personal data provided during the application process (until revocation of consent).
We will automatically contact you every 120 days for renewal of your consent (opt-in); if you do not actively renew your consent at such point, you will be automatically removed from our talent pool and your personal data deleted.
Is personal data disclosed to third parties?
We make every effort to process the personal data that occurs during the application process exclusively on our own hardware (servers) in Switzerland.
The following companies located in Switzerland and the EU/EEA are commissioned by us as processors for the personal data that occurs during the application process:
- Teamtailor AB, located in Sweden.
Due to technical constraints of Teamtailor, a minimal amount of statistical and technically necessary cookies provided by Teamtailor AB must be used on the Teamtailor recruitment tool. Teamtailor AB is Threema GmbH's processor bound by a Data Processing Agreement and processes any personal data from these cookies only on behalf and instructions of Threema GmbH for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Is personal data collected from third parties?
In principle, your personal data is collected directly from you, namely if you submit your application documents yourself.
If you use third parties or their services, in particular recruiters, to submit your application documents, your personal data will be collected from the respective third parties.
What rights do you have?
You have a right to information to Threema and a right to rectification, completion, deletion, and blocking of your personal data as well as a right to withdrawal (of your consent) and to objection (against data processing based on overriding interests).

- Log in to your account with us, where you can use the settings in the account to exercise your rights; or
